Lamps made for the Dandenong Winter Arts Festival.

These lamps were made with fibreglass and polyester resin, with steel bases. They stand nearly 2 meters high. The idea stemmed from a drawing made in Hobart.

Bruce Lee Box and the Paranoid Rings

Mild steel box, plasma cut and welded, like a heavy caketin, inspired by a scene from the Bruce Lee movie, "Enter the Dragon", lined with broken mirror and holding nine rings with paranoid eyes made from shibuichi (silver/copper alloy) and enamel.

Here the Bruce Lee Box is shown as part of the exhibition "Antivenenos" (antidote) in Lietovos Aido Galerija, Vilnius, Lithuania in 2006

Once I lived in Barcelona for six months or so, some years ago. Often I would go to the beach and collect stones, these stones which were not stones but really old fragments of ceramic tile, washed round and round, with a nice thin layer of glaze on top. Sometime later I made this jewellery. These rings of steel and enamel are scattered around everywhere now, and the neckpiece now lives in the Contemporary Jewellery Collection of the City of Idar-Oberstein in Germany.

First a drawing, then from steel I used a saw to draw it again and now it is a brooch. It is about the immediate feeling I had when I realised that my father was sick.

Tiara like a fence is about the transitory nature of thought, of how we try to claim things as our own, or identify things with ourselves, like thoughts or feelings, when they, like us, are just passing through.

I made this tiara in 2003, although I had first imagined it in 2001. It took some time to find the right materials, these crinkly old steel nails i found on the ground at ironfest 2003 in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. My friend helped me to rivet them together with some copper nails we made. good times.
